US Congress Moves Toward Unprecedented US-Israel Military Integration Plan
The initiative is included in the House version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for fiscal year 2027, unveiled earlier this week. According to reports, the legislation contains provisions aimed at broadening defense cooperation between the two allies beyond existing arrangements.
The proposal is outlined in Section 224 of the bill under the title "United States-Israel Defense Technology Cooperation Initiative." Reports noted that Washington has provided Israel with military assistance valued at roughly $200 billion in inflation-adjusted terms since 1948.
According to reports, "Section 224 lays the groundwork for bilateral research and development, co-production of weapons, joint ventures, licensing agreements, and seemingly every manner of US-Israeli military-industrial complex cooperation."
While the United States and Israel have long partnered on missile defense projects, reports indicate that the new measure would dramatically widen collaboration across a broad range of defense-related fields. These areas include artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, autonomous systems, directed-energy capabilities, cybersecurity, and biotechnology.
The proposal also includes provisions related to "network integration" and "data fusion," which reports suggest could facilitate the merging and sharing of military information and operational data between the two countries on a much larger scale than previously envisioned.
