LANSING, Mich., Aug. 11, 2026 — State Rep. Regina Weiss (D-Oak Park) recently introduced House Joint Resolution AA, which would mandate the process for the clerks to move bills so they cannot be held up by administrative maneuvering.
The introduction follows the re-introduction of nine bills that would lower costs and provide long-term relief for thousands across Michigan. Previous iterations of the bills were vetoed by the governor on a technicality after House Republicans spent nearly two years and more than $300,000 in taxpayer money fighting to keep financial relief from reaching Michigan families.
After the resolution’s introduction, Weiss issued the following statement:
“The legislative process should be transparent, predictable and accountable. Regardless of the policy or the party in power, bills that have been duly passed should move through the administrative process without unnecessary delays or procedural gamesmanship. This resolution helps ensure that the will of the Legislature is carried out in a timely and consistent manner, so no future legislation is left in limbo.”
