Mayor Freddie O'Connell issues statement on passage of small business incentives legislation
Metro Council passed legislation on Tuesday night creating a suite of business incentives, designed to support Nashville companies. The legislation creates a Legacy Business Program and a Workforce Advancement Incentive and expands the existing Property Investment Incentive.
After passage, Mayor O'Connell issued the following statement:
Nashville's legacy businesses are more than places — they're part of what makes this city home. These programs help make sure we remain their home, too — and give the people who power them the tools to invest, grow, and build for the future.
The Mayor's Office of Economic and Community Development has received immense interest in the new Legacy Business Program.
The Industrial Development Board will vote to adopt the rules on Wednesday, and the Mayor's Office will then finalize a process for review of applications. The application window is likely to open in early November and remain open for at least 30 days. Initial recipients of the legacy business grants will likely be notified of their selection in February of 2027.
